The Itsekiri National Youth Council, INYC, Worldwide has congratulated the new Oba of Benin -His Royal Majesty, Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare N’ Ogidigan ll, on his historic coronation as the 40th Oba of Benin Kingdom, stating that the Oba’s meritorious service as Nigeria’s ambassador to various nations and his stint in the oil and gas sector stand him in a good stead to fulfil this obligation, which the Benin ancestors have given to him.
The group’s Public Relations Officer, Comrade Joseph Uwawah, while felicitating with the Benin Royal family, the Benin people and Edo State on the successful coronation of their new Oba, noted that there is unanimity in the shared heritage between the people of Benin and Itsekiri people, owing to the over five hundred and forty years affinity existing between the two kingdoms when the Binis gifted us our first Olu, in the person of Olu Ginuwa 1, in 1480.
Earlier on, the INYC Coordinator for Ikpoba-Okha in Edo State, Comrade Kingsley Tenumah had commended the Itsekiri community in Edo State for trouping out enmass to usher in the new Oba of Benin, noting that the 40th monarch of the Benin Kingdom is ascending the throne at a time of great change.
