Sales rep allegedly steals N11.7m goods

A sales representative with Phamatex Company Nigeria Ltd., Nicolas Udo, who allegedly obtained and took delivery of pharmaceutical products worth N11.56 million from the head office in Lagos, was yesterday arraigned before a Magistrate’s Court in Lagos.

The defendant, who is 42 years old, is facing a two-count charge of stealing and fraud.

The prosecutor, Inspector at the Special Fraud Unit, Sylvester Azubuike, told the court that the defendant committed the alleged offences between 2014 and 2015.

He said that Udo, while working as a sales representative of the company in Kano, dishonestly obtained and took delivery from Lagos head office of the company, Hovid BHD, a pharmaceutical product valued at N11,570, 496.59, property of Phamatex Nigeria Ltd., but converted same into his personal use.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to charge. The magistrate, Mrs. Abimbola Komolafe, granted the defendant N5 million bail, with two sureties.

She said one of the sureties must be a blood relation, show evidence of three years tax payment and have their addresses verified, and adjourned the matter to November 29 for mention.
