Oh no. Ron Lester has sadly passed away. The actor played the role of Billy Bob in the classic football movie Varsity Blues, and unfortunately died after a long battle in a Dallas hospital. We have all of the devastating details, right here.
More sad news. Ron was just 45 years old when he passed away after a four-month hospitalization, during which his health has just gotten worse and worse. TMZ reported on June 17 that he was in critical condition following a long battle with liver and kidney troubles, and at around 9 PM CT he requested to be taken off life support. Now his battle is over and he can finally rest. His fiancee was by his side.
Ron was very open about his health struggles with the news outlet. In Nov. 2015 he admitted he had been hospitalized due to problems with his liver, and in Jan. 2016 he said he was having trouble with his heart, though at the time he was in good spirits. He was even filming for a new movie set to come out in 2017 called Bomb City, so hopefully we’ll get the chance to see him perform one last time.
