As many years before, the Puerto Rican Day Parade promises to bring some of the biggest Latino celebrities to New York. This year's celebration has an even greater meaning as the island is currently facing financial hardships.
The honor of grand marshal is being given to singer Ednita Nazario. Magic Mike actor Adam Rodriguez will take on the role of godfather and Giselle Blondet will be the godmother.
Rosario Dawson has been selected as the queen of the parade, and Carmelo Anthony, who was born to a Puerto Rican father, will serve as her king.
Book artist Edgardo Miranda-Rodriguez, chef Frank Maldonado, former baseball player Candy Maldonado, actress Jeimy Osorio, and many more will also be in attendance.
The 59th annual parade will begin at 11a.m. on Sunday, June 12, with its festivities will start on 44th street all the way until 79th street.
According to NY Daily News, 100,000 people will take place in the actual parade, music and dancing, while they expect about 1.5 million people to celebrate from the sidewalks.
