Heartland not relegation candidates — Ubido

HEARTLAND utility player, Julius Ubido has said outright that the Owerri outfit will not go down on relegation at the end of the on-going league season.

The Naze Millionaires are fourth from the base on paltry 23 points same as third-placed side, Plateau United from 22 matches.

The 2009 CAF Champions League finalists have not won a match in the last eight matches. Ubido said every team has its teething problem that his side will soon overcome their challenges.

“Of course, Heartland cannot be a candidate for relegation either in the on-going league season or the one to come. “I quite agree we have huge challenge but something tells me we will very shortly come out of the trouble.

“We have not been in this discomforting and tight situation since I joined the side or I can remember. “However, I know there are trials and it comes in different shapes and sizes I strongly believe we will come out of the trouble even stronger.

“And the turnaround in our fortune will commence on Sunday when we would have beaten Akwa United in NPFL matchday 24 clash in Owerri on Sunday.

“We just need the victory against the Uyo outfit to bounce back to reckoning as well as take our pride of place in the league,” said the former Lobi Stars playmaker.

Heartland are just one of the two club sides yet to taste relegation pill from the top-flight.
