Top Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) chiefs led by president Amaju Pinnick will meet today in Lagos to decide on a foreign coach for the Super Eagles.
The other top shots for this crucial meeting are NFF vice-presidents, Seyi Akinwunmi and Shehu Dikko, as well as NFF technical committee chairman Chris Green.
“They will meet to possibly decide on a short list of coaches who have applied for the vacant Eagles post and also the modalities for their engagement,” a source said.
Frenchman and former Cameroon coach Paul Le Guen is a personal choice of president Pinnick, but it appears that he may be opposed by his other colleagues to throw open the door for other interested coaches.
Top NFF officials have announced a new Eagles coach will be appointed in the coming week.
The country have been without a permanent coach since February, when Sunday Oliseh walked out on the Eagles over several breaches of his contract.
Nigeria are drawn in a very difficult World Cup qualifying group that also has Africa’s No.1 team Algeria, Cameroon and Zambia.
