Represented by the Head, Nigerian Child Right Information Bureau, Mrs. Rose Madu, in a two-day Media Dialogue on Malnutrition in Nigeria, the Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, assured that FG was doing enough to help scale up nutrition activities aimed at averting any case of child malnutrition.
The media dialogue with its theme; “Good Nutrition; Invest More #StopchildmalnutritionNigeria” was aimed at accessing the true position of malnutrition vis-a vis its impact on Nigerian children.
The two day workshop jointly organised by the Federal Ministry of Information and
the United Nations Emergency Children’s Fund (UNICEF) will among other things, look at nutrition interventions in Nigeria as well as solicit for media support on how best to advocate for an increased resources for nutrition programmes in Nigeria.
While stressing that the first step towards good nutrition was the introduction of B.reastfeeding five minutes after childbirth, the Minister recommended at least six months exclusive for every Nigerian child.
