Iwobi out of Tanzania clash

Arsenal’s exciting forward Alex Iwobi will not be part of Nigeria’s dead rubber Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Tanzania due to injury.

The exciting prospect picked up a thigh injury in the Gunners' opening day fixture against Liverpool which will see him sidelined for up to three weeks.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger confirmed the injury during a press conference ahead of Arsenal’s trip to champions Leicester City.

Wenger said that he is pleased the injury was not as first feared, and Iwobi will be back after the international break, effectively ruling him out of Nigeria’s clash with Tanzania.

"I think he will be out until after the international break but we feared worse - for Iwobi especially,” Wenger revealed when asked about Iwobi’s injury concerns.

It is a thigh problem for Iwobi. It is better news than we feared at the start,”he added.

The 20-year-old has had a breakthrough 12 months. He was capped by Nigeria and also became an integral part of Arsenal’s first team squad.
