Two North Charleston teenagers are accused of shooting a man who helped them get their SUV out of a ditch, according to police.
According to usatoday Police arrested 19-year-old Michael Dupree-Tyler and a 17-year-old, in the death of Chadwich Garrett, 45. Garrett told the teens he would help pull the SUV out of a roadside ditch for $20, the news station reported.
After pulling the car from the ditch, Garrett asked the suspects for the agreed upon money, and the 17-year-old allegedly pulled out a gun and fired multiple shots at Garrett.
Following the shooting, the duo got into the car and drove away.
Police said 911 operators received a call 20 minutes after the shooting from a woman who said the two men had taken her SUV without her permission.
According to authorities, the description of the SUV and the men matched witness accounts. When police arrived at the caller's home, the woman told authorities that the suspects were inside.
Following a brief standoff, police were able to arrest the suspects. Dupree-Tyler confessed to being on the scene, and the 17-year-old said he shot Garrett,
